While at an Adult Ed. Credential class recently, called “Interpersonal Relations” the teacher (who, by chance, has subscribed to the 6 Seconds newsletters for years) asked us to go home and practice listening to someone and have them comment on how they felt listened to. My son said he knew l was really trying to listen to him because I was looking at him in his eyes. It can be easy to not listen to someone so well when you are cooking, working, or on the computer. I know I need to spend more time looking when I’m listening.
Thanks for the comment. Listening is both so easy and available to us all the time but so hard too! I love the image of you looking at your son. I’m sure he was very touched by your loving attention.
