Jay Grant, PhD EdDxSEL Specialization Lead Instructor

My Noble Goal is... Encouraging and supporting other truth-seekers

My work is about... Supporting the use of Six Seconds approaches and methodologies in the EdD program - and beyond

Professional accomplishments include... I completed my dissertation on regulating positive emotions by sharing feelings on social media. Also, I developed a course for training social entrepreneurs rooted in emotional intelligence and, I have coached C-level executives on building EQ competencies and leveraging those skills to advance their companies.

A few past experiences... As a young man fresh out of business school, I followed the traditional path of a marketing professional at a varied set of companies including Fortune 100's as well as internet startups. I left as a vice president to embrace stay-at-home fatherhood for nearly 19 years. During that time I also balanced parenting with part-time work as an EQ consultant and educator, and then a graduate student (again). In 2023, I completed my doctorate in psychology. Over the years, I have been a public speaker, TV spokesperson and lecturer with experience delivering in-person and remote presentations. I bring a combination of professional and scholarly skills that can help students visualize how their academic interests can have real world impact.

One reason I'm personally passionate about emotional intelligence is... As a parent and spouse, I have experienced time and again how EQ can be the key to assisting loved ones over obstacles and unlocking the potential for surprising successes.
