    EQ News: August 2002

    ============================
    Modest Needs
    ============================
    http://www.modestneeds.org/
    Keith Taylor, a 34-year-old English professor at Middle Tennessee State
    University, decided to create a web site to give away 10% of his income to
    people with unexpected, legitimate modest need. After only four months in
    "business" the foundation will give away $10,000 in August (thanks to
    many small donations). You can also read stories from national and local
    media about Modest Needs at: http://www.modestneeds.org/media

    Modest Needs is a great example of someone simply taking action to pursue a
    noble goal.

    15th Certification Course
    ============================
    http://www.6seconds.org/training/
    Six Seconds' 15th Certification Course will be October 14-18 in Menlo
    Park, CA (near San Francisco). Here are two quotes about the course from
    recent participants:
    "If you truly desire to make EQ an integral part of your life, take this
    course. It is life changing and affirming." -- Lynn Quinn, RN
    "You will not only gain a better understanding of EQ, but you will also gain a
    better understanding of yourself and learn techniques and strategies to
    share these skills with others." -- Janet Cartozian, School Counselor

    The course is designed for people who are developing and delivering
    emotional intelligence programs in school, business, and in the community.
    You are also invited to attend to learn more about practicing EQ for yourself.
    Unlike many advanced courses, this is not a class where we "talk about how
    to teach EQ" -- instead, we practice it. You will walk away having
    experienced a learning environment and set of strategies that work to build
    emotional capacity. We also offer a money-back guarantee (only one person
    ever used it, that was four years ago).

    PS. The 14th course is coming up very soon! It is August 26-30 in
    Jakarta.

    Our magazine, EQ Today, is off to the printer. The new look is an Annual
    Edition -- 32 pages full of insight and "how to." This issue focuses on
    creating change. The web edition will be up soon -- we'll send an
    announcement, and keep checking the site.
