Robert Cooper: A Simple Model
http://www.6seconds.org/a/cooper.html
As promised, an extensive interview with Dr. Robert Cooper
on The Other 90%, trust, leadership, quality, and living
well.
"When you notice the ways that you and other people are
exceptional, you break out of the game. It is happening every
day in all kinds of small ways, and sometimes big ways. The
more we focus on this unique contribution of different people,
and if we recognize them accordingly, which means
individually and uniquely, people start giving more."
Joshua Freedman: Time Enough?
http://www.6seconds.org/a/time.html
Where is the balance point? Start with some perspective and
seven tips for getting the most from your "to do" list.
"Evenings, weekends, whatever it takes to get the job done. I
resist the word "obsessed." "Committed" sounds much better.
"It is only work," a friend quips one night as I head back to
the office. Only? In so many ways my identity is my work --
I am what I do."
Cary Cherniss: Biz EQ Success
http://www.6seconds.org/a/guides.html
If you are considering putting an EQ effort into place in an
organization, don't miss these eight elements.
"Emotional intelligence is an innovative and unconventional
idea in the organizational world. Efforts to promote it in
organizations thus can be easily smothered by the rigidity of
a bureaucracy. Ideally, it should be developed and initially
operated by a self-managed team that has an "open ticket" to
innovate."

Coming Soon + Brags

Today I interviewed Cary Cherniss about the new book he and
Daniel Goleman edited. Dr. Cherniss has a deep understanding
of the opportunities and challenges of implementing EQ, and
he shared valuable advice.
This weekend I will be interviewing Geetu Ohme about her
new book -- which is ground breaking because of its
inclusive content (she talks about a wide variety of EQ
efforts) and because she has pledged the royalties to EQ
programs from schools and nonprofits.
In addition to gearing up for our July 9th Certification course
(http://www.sixseconds.org/training), we're working on the
Level II course for July 30. Both courses have an excellent
group, and there is room for a few more people.
When Granville D'Souza wrote about returning for Level II,
he said, "Frankly, this has been a great investment in many
ways....... in knowledge, personal enrichment and $ value as I
have conducted a good 7 classes at least and more than made up
for the investment to the US." Granville is one of the approx.
250 international trainees who have participated in this
course in the last three years -- now from every continent!
The message we consistently hear is that this course breaks
the mould and leads to a new level of connection between
thinking, feeling, and action.
Also on the horizon -- we're hard at work at the Second
Edition of Handle With Care -- first edition sold out! At the
same time, we're working on a new volume. And on the High
School edition of Self-Science.
Last brag, speaking of Self-Science, we have collated more
data from our Pilot surveys, now representing 319 students
-- still 100% of the teachers say it improved their
classroom environment and improved relationships.
Fascinating data is beginning to emerge, for instance we are
seeing some differences in the areas of growth between the
affluent and underprivileged classes; while there were
significant improvements in both, the areas were different.
We'll be releasing another interim report this summer.
More soon,
-Josh
