What We Offer
Schools and educational organizations work with Six Seconds to access transformational learning, innovative tools, and validated assessments to support a research-based approach to social emotional learning:

Assessments
Six Seconds’ tools are scientifically validated, meaningful, and action-oriented. For education, assessments include:
SEI-YV: Measures five essential “life barometers” (such as achievement and health) and eight core EQ competencies (such as emotional awareness and optimism). Individual youth as well as classroom and school-wide reports available. Used for individual goal setting, focusing instruction, assessing individual/class/school progress in SEL, and research. Self-report for ages 7-18, “perspective” version for younger children.
SEI: Like the YV, the adult tools puts emotional intelligence into a context of important life and work outcomes by measuring both the competencies of EQ and key success factors. ”Strengths,” “Development,” and “Leadership” reports available as well as group reports. A “360″ version is also available. Used for educator development and parent education.
ASC: The Assessment of School Climate surveys students, teachers, staff, parents, administrators, and other community members about four key elements of a safe and effective learning environment: Empathy, Accountability, Respect, and Trust. It also assesses three key outcomes: Learning, Safety, and Connectedness.
Transformational Learning
Youth: The Self-Science process is a proven approach to SEL, launched in 1967 and first published in 1978, it is one of the pioneering programs in this arena. In his 1995 book on emotional intelligence, Daniel Goleman identifies Self-Science as “a model for the teaching of emotional intelligence.” In the “EQ Store” Six Seconds also provides other curricula. We believe that effective SEL programs are living and evolving, so we recommend using a blend of curricular resources including lessons created by teachers trained to do so.

Families: The EQ for Families program is an excellent foundation for creating a systematic approach to teaching the skills of EQ to parents and caregivers. It is essential for effective implementation that they are enrolled in the vision of SEL, learn a common vocabulary, and work to model the skills for youth in partnership with the school.
Educators, Educational Leaders, Professors, and Trainers: Six Seconds offers a range of inservice and certification programs. These programs are unique because they are not “just talking about EQ,” while they’re deeply rooted in theory and current neuroscience, Six Seconds programs model brain-based, hands-on learning to provide a practical, actionable approach to emotional intelligence.
