Introduction

Welcome to my portfolio. I have chosen to create this portfolio electronically to demonstrate my commitment to innovation and change.

Throughout the portfolio, blue underlined links will take you to different sections; I have included materials above and beyond the six criteria as articulated in the Notre Dame de Namur Faculty Handbook (below, these additional topics are marked with an *). Supporting documentation for each of the six criteria will appear on the right side of each page and linked in the text.

The portfolio is divided intro three major areas based on Six Seconds' model of emotional intelligence. The portfolio is designed for "non-linear" reading, i.e., different sections link back and forth. Or, this index of the portfolio is available to take you through each page in order.

After you read the portfolio, I would greatly appreciate an email to give me your "two stars and a wish" - two pieces you liked and one improvement!

Dear Anabel,

I've been thinking about who has been the most inspirational to me in this journey as I become a teacher. Although most of my professors at Notre Dame have been excellent, you have had the most impact on me.

The best advice you gave me was to be myself-and it is so true. I find that what is most effective in teaching is to be real-be authentic-be who and what you really are. When you open up to them, they open up to you and that's when the great stuff happens.

Thank you for being that kind of teacher for me and inspiring me to do the same.

Sincerely,

Kim Peckinpaugh (NDNU student)

Dear Anabel,

Thanks for everything! Your class was so inspiring it persuaded me to pursue studies in education rather than theology. I aspire to develop the skills needed to build classroom community as beautifully as you do. Thank you for sharing your tools.

Gratefully yours,

Robyn Duby (NDNU student)
